It's quite exciting: entering the world of first shoes marks a new stage in a child's development. When exactly the transition from crawling to walking takes place varies from child to child – every child develops at their own pace.
As a general rule, little feet need sufficient freedom of movement. In the early stages of walking, it is advisable to stand and walk barefoot or in non-slip socks as often as possible. This strengthens tendons and muscles in a natural way and supports healthy foot development.
As soon as the little ones take their first firm steps and feel so confident that they want to walk outside, they should get their first pair of superfit first walkers. Firm shoes are primarily used to protect against wet, cold, dirt and injuries and thus motivate them to learn to walk.
Children’s feet are not just small versions of an adult’s. A special fit, ingenious technology and high-quality materials are thus essential for children’s shoes. Additionally, with toddler shoes a flexible sole that supports the movement of the foot is important.
The outer materials should be soft, flexible and breathable in order to guarantee the regulated transfer of moisture. Children’s feet have just as many sweat glands as an adult’s feet, but over a much smaller surface area.
Shoes that are too small are not acceptable. They hinder the healthy development of small feet. That's why it's so important for children's shoes – and especially first walkers – to fit perfectly.
