Care tips for superfit GORE-TEX shoes
The GORE-TEX® membrane incorporated into the lining is windproof and waterproof, but permeable to water vapour and therefore breathable. With shoes that feature GORE-TEX®, it’s important not to restrict their functionality through the use of care products. Therefore, you should avoid products with a high content of grease or oil, as these hinder the breathability of the upper material.
Removing dirt
Remove loose dirt and dust from the shoes when they are dry.
Wipe the shoes
Use a soft cloth (for leather) or sponge (for textiles) with lukewarm water to clean the shoes. If necessary, use a mild cleaning agent such as Collonil MaxX or Organic Care. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or solvents, as they can damage the GORE-TEX® membrane.
Cleaning the inner shoe
If possible, insoles should be removed and cleaned separately by hand. This prevents odors and keeps shoes fresh - ideal for active children's feet.
Important: Please do not wash shoes with GORE-TEX® in the washing machine, as this can destroy the membrane, which consists of very small pores. The shoe would then no longer be waterproof.
Should superfit GORE-TEX shoes be waterproofed or not?
New superfit GORE-TEX® shoes leave our factory with a water-repellent finish. So you don’t need to impregnate a new shoe.
If your child wears the shoe, you might think that the functionality is diminishing. Of course, you can then use a waterproofing spray. Read about how to properly waterproof GORE-TEX® shoes.
